Aung Min, the President’s Office Minister in charge of holding peace talks with Burma’s ethnic groups, is planning to visit the Wa capital Panghsang, sources in the United Wa State Army (UWSA) told SHAN News. The visit has yet to be confirmed but is expected soon, the agency reports. Most recently, the UWSA held state level talks in September and last year it held Union level negotiations with the government in October and December. The UWSA, which separated from the Burma Communist Party in 1989, signed a ceasefire agreement with the previous military regime in 2009.
