Johnny Htoo has asked the Lawyers Council of Thailand to investigate the disappearance of 55 Karen men in Thailand’s Ratchaburi province in 2000, The Bangkok Post reports. Htoo was one of the 12-year-old twins who led a ragtag Karen rebel group called God’s Army. The group seized the Burma Embassy in Bangkok and a Ratchaburi hospital to demand attention for their fight against the Burma Army. In retaliation, the Thai army shelled Karen villages in Burma, causing 300 villagers to flee to Thailand. The army separated 55 men from Karen women and children, and the men were never seen again.
