Singapore-based electronics manufacturer and distributor WE Holdings is planning to invest in Burma’s energy sector through a newly formed joint venture with Burmese businessman Nay Win Tun, according to a report by the Business Times. The joint venture, WE Dragon Resources, will assess potential petroleum, oil and gas, and related resources business opportunities in Burma, the Singapore-based business newspaper said. The two partners will each hold a 50 percent share in the company. WE’s initial investment was just 100,000 Singapore dollars (US $78,600), but will grow to “tens of millions” of dollars over the next two to five years, the company said.
