Burma Army troops set fire to a camp of internally displaced persons near Pangsai in northern Shan State on Wednesday, a report by Kachin News alleges. The site, located near the Burma-China border, provided shelter to hundreds of families, who had fled the fighting between the Kachin Independence Organization and Burmese forces. There were no details on whether there had been civilian casualties. Kachin News said the act might have been carried out in retaliation for an attack by a KIO-affiliated civilian militia, which reportedly killed 10 soldiers and injured six in the area.
