A transport network linking the southern Burmese seaport of Dawei to an industrial estate in neighboring Thailand will cost around 48 billion baht (US $1.57 billion), according to Thai Transport Minister Chadchat Sittipunt. The network, from the port of Laem Chabang in Thailand’s Chonburi Province to Dawei, will include motorways, rural roads and two rail links, The Bangkok Post reported Chadchat as saying. The network is part of the more than $50 billion deep-sea port and special economic zone project that Thailand hopes to build in Dawei.
