American multinational soft-drink maker Coca-Cola Company has been given a green light to set up a factory in Burma, according to a report by the Asia News Network. Operating under the name Cola Pinya Beverages Myanmar Ltd, the company will begin production at four factories in Rangoon, including a new one on the outskirts of Burma’s commercial capital. The Myanmar Investment Commission approved the move on Dec. 28. Coca-Cola, one of the world’s leading beverage makers, will operate in Burma as a partner in a joint venture with the local Pinya Manufacturing Co Ltd.
