24 March 2014
The Chin National Front/Chin National Army signed an agreement with NGO Geneva Call on Thursday, in which the group commits to preventing child soldier recruitment and gender discrimination or sexual violence. “In signing these two Deeds of Commitment, the CNF/CNA commits to the highest international norms in terms of child protection and prohibition of sexual violence,” the Swiss NGO said in a news release. The Karen National Union, the New Mon State Party and the Karenni National Progressive Party made a similar pledge in 2012 and 2013. The Burma Army has worked with the International Labor Organization in recent years to end child recruitment.
