A Buddhist monk who suffered severe burns as the result of the Nov. 29 police raid on anti-copper mine protestors will receive further medical treatment in Thailand, his relatives told The Irrawaddy on Wednesday. Teikkha Nyana’s back, legs and arms are covered with burns and he cannot not sit or lie down and has to be fed by others. As his condition is worsening he will be sent to a Bangkok hospital for treatment on Friday, his son Nay Thu Rein said. His treatment and flight is funded by Burmese social and religious organizations, including well-known monk Shwe Nya War Sayadaw Pinnyasih.
