A Burmese man was killed in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur in the early hours of New Year’s Day after an altercation with thieves, according to Malaysia’s Bernama news agency. The 25-year-old victim, who was not identified by name, was returning home from New Year’s celebrations with a group of friends when they were surrounded by around 10 men, local police said. While struggling with the assailants, the man was stabbed in the chest and later died. Both his companions and the thieves fled the scene of the attack, police said at a press conference.
