Privately owned broadcaster Myanmar National Television (MNTV) has begun airing news bulletins produced by the BBC World Service, reports the BBC Media Centre. The launch of the new service is the BBC’s latest move to expand its presence in Burma, where some of its radio programs are now included on the schedules of nationwide FM networks and BBC Burmese audio news bulletins are available to mobile-phone users. “Thanks to this milestone partnership with MNTV, viewers across the country will now have access to BBC news on prime-time TV,” said BBC Burmese Editor Tin Htar Swe. The 10-minute Burmese-language programs will be broadcast Monday to Friday at 8:45 pm local time.
