Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi on Friday arrived in Singapore on her first visit to the country, the Straits Times reported. Suu Kyi was due to call on Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu, according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement cited by the Straits Times. The report said the visit is the National League for Democracy chairperson’s first bilateral visit to an Asean country since her release from house arrest three years ago.
