Burma Visit for Indian PM on Cards
3 April 2012
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit Burma perhaps as early as next month, reports the Telegraph India. Although new Member of the Burmese Parliament pro-democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi is the undoubtedly flavor of the month, it is still likely that the trip would focus on trade talks with President Thein Sein. It could be a bilateral visit or Singh may travel to Burma for a likely meeting of regional grouping Bimstec in June. No Indian Prime Minister has visited the southeastern neighbor since Rajiv Gandhi’s 1987 trip.
