Foreigners who wish to visit Burma can now enter the country through three border crossings on the Thai-Burmese border, according to a report by The Bangkok Post. Previously, the only legal points of entry for visitors intending to travel in Burma were the international airports in Rangoon, Mandalay and Naypyidaw. The border crossings—at Tachilek-Mae Sai, Myawaddy-Mae Sot and Kawthaung-Ranong—were formerly open only for restricted travel within the immediate area on the Burmese side of the border, usually limited to a single day. A ceremony was held on Wednesday to launch the new arrangement at the border crossing between Tachilek and Mae Sai.
