Burmese and Thai authorities incinerated nearly US $400 million worth of narcotics on Wednesday to mark World Drug Day, according to official figures cited by AFP. Thailand’s Public Health Ministry reported that some 31 million methamphetamine tablets, nearly 300 kg of crystal meth and 125 kg of heroin—worth a total of around $320 million—were destroyed in the central Thai city of Ayutthaya, while in Burma, $76 million worth of drugs, including 800,000 pills and half a tonne of opium and heroin, were set alight.
