Burma has sought Thai help in getting observer status at the Thai-US Cobra Gold war games, according to The Bangkok Post. Thailand’s defense minister, ACM Sukumpol Suwanatat, said on Thursday that the issue was raised during his recent two-day trip to Naypyidaw to meet his Burmese counterpart, Hla Min, as well as President Thein Sein and the armed forces commander-in-chief, Vice Snr-Gen Min Aung Hlaing. He said the Burmese military authorities want Bangkok to urge Washington to allow them to participate in the annual joint military exercise between Thailand and the US.
