Burma’s Union Parliament on Tuesday approved recommendations from President Thein Sein for the membership of a new 15-member anticorruption commission, a lawmaker said. Last week the President’s Office nominated the commissioners now tasked with tackling graft in Burma, which include five former military generals. The chairman of the commission will be former Maj-Gen Mya Win, who served as commander of the Burma Army’s Artillery Corps. Lower House lawmaker Thein Nyunt from the New National Democracy Party told The Irrawaddy that the commissioners were approved by the Parliament “without objection.” “There was no discussion about it,” he added.
