Kurt Campbell, the top US diplomat for East Asian and Pacific affairs, met with his Indian counterpart Gautam Bambawale on Tuesday to discuss security concerns and other developments in the region, including Burma’s moves toward democratization. Also on the agenda were tensions in the South China Sea and North Korea’s recent defiant rocket launch. The East Asia dialogue will be followed by talks between Indian Home Secretary R.K. Singh and US Deputy Secretary for Homeland Security Jane Lute on homeland security April 19-20 and the India-Japan-US trilateral dialogue in Tokyo April 23.
