Burma has so far exported more than 3.3 million tons in the current fiscal year, according to local media reports cited by China’s Xinhua news agency. This compares with a total of 800,500 tons of rice for the 2011-12 fiscal year. Border trade with China and Thailand accounted for most of this year’s exports, whereas 75 percent of exports last year were to Africa, Bangladesh, Indonesia and the Philippines, according to Xinhua.
