16 May 2013

Ko Pyo Khar Bae was driving his truck down the rain-soaked highway in Chaung Nyia-ko village shortly after 5pm on May 8, when he stopped and got out to cover the exposed engine with tarpaulin. Lightning hit Ko Pyo, killing the 17-year-old driver in a flash, the New Light of Myanmar reported on Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the emergency services and his body taken to the coroner. But according to the report, the local authorities believe something more sinister was afoot, opening an investigation “to know whether or not there is foul play.”
