The Burma Army last month allegedly fired mortar rounds on two Karen villages, said Christian medical aid group the Free Burma Rangers, which added that their team was also fired upon. The rangers said in a briefing that the army on Dec. 2-9 shelled rice fields in the Ye Mu Plaw area and villagers near Plako on Dec 18. “Burma Army troops at Maw Pu camp fired on a FBR relief team taking video of the camp,” the group said, adding that soldiers also “shot at villagers near Paw Mu Der Village as they attempted to cross the Kyauk Kyi-Hsaw Hta road on 27 Dec.”
