The chief of Burma’s air force pledged to increase the country’s military cooperation with China during a meeting in Beijing on Tuesday, Chinese state newswire Xinhua reports. Xinhua said Air Force Commander-in-Chief Gen. Khin Aung Myint met with Xu Qilang, vice chairman of China’s Central Military Commission. “Khin Aung Myint voiced his gratitude for China’s enduring support for the Myanmar armed forces and said that Myanmar will continue to enhance cooperation with China to advance military-to-military ties,” it said. The Chinese official reportedly said the countries should continue to “work together to safeguard tranquility and stability in border areas.”
