Two people were injured Friday when the convoy of Mandalay Division Chief Minister Ye Myint was attacked with an explosive device, an official source told The Irrawaddy. The attack occurred at about 3 pm when the chief minister and other divisional officials were traveling from Moe Goke to Pyin Oo Lwin, the source said. While Ye Myint was left unhurt, a member of his security team and a journalist from the Mandalay Daily were injured in the blast. They have been taken to Mandalay General Hospital for treatment on minor injuries, the source said. Police are still investigating the incident, which took place in Naung Cho Township.
