Banks to Open Mobile Units during SEA Games
28 October 2013
Burma’s Central Bank has given the country’s domestic banks permission to open mobile banking units during the upcoming SEA Games, reports Mizzima. Bank executives said the mobile units will include currency-exchange counters and 24-hour ATMs that will accept cards from the 17 banks belonging to the Myanmar Payment Union (MPU). Some banks, such as Kanbawza Bank and Co-operative Bank, will also allow foreign customers to access international accounts and withdraw cash using Visa and MasterCard. Cards issued by banks recognized by the Japan Credit Bureau will also have access to all MPU ATMs from next month.
