Police in Bangladesh arrested a 30-year-old man from Burma accused of leading a gang of bandits, according to a report by The Independent, a Dhaka-based English-language daily. The man, identified as Mohammed Tarik, was arrested following a gunfight last Wednesday that left four police officers wounded, the report said. He reportedly hails from the village of Lapiya, in Arakan State’s Maungdaw Township, and was apprehended in Dolah Fakir Majar, a village in Cox’s Bazar, a district in southern Bangladesh that borders Burma and is home to tens of thousands of stateless Rohingya refugees.
