A planned rally organized by Arakanese women to highlight threats to their security in the wake of recent communal clashes between ethnic Arakanese Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims was called off after the authorities objected to the use of anti-Rohingya slogans, according to a report by DVB. The rally organizers, who included members of the National League for Democracy and the Rakhine Nationalities Development Party, said they planned to apply for permission again after submitting new slogans. The rally was originally planned to take place on Sept. 30.
