Media magnate Ross Dunkley has been barred from leaving Burma ahead of a court case in which he is involved, Eleven News reported, citing the Myanmar Times. The Australian managing director of Myanmar Consolidated Media was accused of assaulting a family member of the majority shareholder of the Myanmar Times, an MCM publication. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a dispute over Dunkley’s intention to turn the weekly newspaper into a daily. Dunkley was told that immigration’s refusal to let him leave was due to his upcoming court case, though the court granted him permission to leave Burma on April 8.
