The 7th Asean Para Games opening ceremony was held in Burma’s capital, Naypyidaw, on Tuesday evening, according to state media. The New Light of Myanmar reported that the sporting event for athletes with physical disabilities, which follows December’s South East Asian Games in Burma, was officially opened at the Wunna Theikdi Stadium in a ceremony attended by 20,000 people. “A total of 1482 athletes from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and host Myanmar will take part in the competitions,” the report said. As well as the Asean member states, East Timor is also competing in the games.
