Burma’s motion picture association has denounced a letter sent under a directive from the President’s Office that claims most local films and videos contained inappropriate scenes, Eleven Myanmar reported Wednesday. “I don’t accept the President Office meddling everywhere,” director Mee Pwar told the news agency.” Another director said censorship was a growing issue since the release of a video that was criticized for its kissing scenes. The letter was purportedly based on research conducted with local audiences, Eleven Myanmar reported, adding that short skirts, dyed hair, cursing and tattoos could not be shown in films during the former regime.
