Seven publishers that had intended to produce daily newspapers and applied to Burma’s Ministry of Information—including the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) party—have scrapped their plans to do so, DVB reports. The ministry’s News and Periodicals Enterprise division said at a press conference Monday that Aung San Suu Kyi’s NLD was among the proposed dailies that had returned their licenses to the government.
