Burma’s state media said Monday a 500-megawatt power plant to the serve the special economic zone (SEZ) at Rangoon’s Thilawa Port would generate electricity by the end of 2015. The thermal power plant is being built in Thakayta Township by Hanza International Company Limited in a joint venture with Korea Western Power Co Ltd, according to a report in the state-owned New Light of Myanmar. “The power plant construction will start on 50 acres by the end of 2013,” said the report, which did not specify what fuel the plant would use.
