The ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) has been playing its campaign song on loudspeakers in Kyaukpadaung Township in Mandalay Division on Sunday morning, despite a ban on all campaign activities on the day of the by-election, according to local residents.
The USDP anthem was turned on at polling station no. 3 in Kyaukpadaung at 6 am on April 1 as the polling station opened and voters began to arrive to cast their ballots, according to voter Aye Khaing.
Dr. Zaw Myint from the National League for Democracy is the only candidate contesting the seat for Kyaukpadaung Township against the USDP’s Aung Win Kyi.
