Three civilians from Mindat Township in Chin State were killed by Myanmar junta artillery on Thursday.
A man in his 70s, a woman in her 60s and a woman in her 30s from Moei Twei village were farming near the village when the Mindat-based Light Infantry Battalion 274 fired shells.
Despite a lack of fighting junta troops fire artillery at civilian villages everyday, according to the Chin Defence Force (CDF) in Mindat.
A CDF spokesman said: “This is deliberate shooting at innocent civilians. We will respond strongly.”
An 11-year-old lost a leg and a women was injured by artillery in the township last month.
