RANGOON — A 25-year-old British national is wanted by authorities after his colleague was found dead in his apartment in downtown Rangoon on Sunday, police told The Irrawaddy.
Forty-seven-year-old Peter Gary Ferguson, who worked as a teacher at Rangoon’s Horizon International School, was found dead with bruising on his head and chest at the suspect’s 39th Street apartment, according to police captain U Soe Myot of the Kyauktada Township police station.
The police captain told The Irrawaddy that an investigation had been opened to find out details of the crime and that the body is currently at the morgue of the Yangon General Hospital for post-mortem examination.
State-media reported on Monday that the suspect Harris John Italo Binotti left the country on Saturday evening and is wanted by police under Article 302 of Burma’s Penal Code, which imposes a maximum sentence of life in prison for committing murder.
The report also stated that the two co-workers were last seen together on Friday evening, with their partners at a party in Thaketa Township’s Uptown Hotel.
