NEW DELHI—India on Wednesday confirmed its coronavirus cases have exceeded the 5 million mark, adding over 1 million cases in less than two weeks.

The world’s second most populous country is only behind the United States in total coronavirus cases, with the United States leading the world with over 6.4 million, according to the World Health Organization.
