The New York Times has reported details of a United Nations report on an alleged massacre of 40 Royingya Muslims in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State in January. An article published on March 1 said the UN report, which has been presented to the Burmese government but not made public, outlines the discovery of the killings in Du Chee Yar Tan village by five Muslim men. “They found the severed heads of at least 10 Rohingya bobbing in a water tank. Some of those were children’s,” it said, adding that two New York Times reporters and a photographer were briefly detained investigating the incident.
