Burma Campaign UK called on the British government on Monday to double its funding for the Thailand Burma Border Consortium (TBBC) in response to Aung San Suu Kyi’s call for increased support for refugees from Burma in her Nobel Peace Prize speech. “I appeal to donors the world over to fulfill the needs of these people who are in search, often it must seem to them a vain search, of refuge,” Suu Kyi said in her speech after describing her recent visit to the Mae La refugee camp in Thailand, where the TBBC supports around 150,000 refugees.
