Thai Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said on Tuesday that Belgium has been invited to collaborate in the Thai-led Dawei deep-sea port project in southern Burma, according to Thailand’s state-run MCOT news agency. Speaking on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York, Surapong said that the Belgian delegate, Foreign Minister Didier Reynders, had expressed a strong interest in investing in Burma. Thai PM Yingluck Shinawatra is scheduled to discuss the Dawei project with Burmese President Thein Sein while they are both in New York.
