Thailand’s Nok Air flew from the Thai border town of Mae Sot in Tak Province to Moulmein in southern Burma’s Mon State for the first time on Sunday, reports The Bangkok Post. The governor of Tak Province, Suriya Prasartbundit, was aboard the inaugural flight, which he said would boost border trade between the two countries. Suriya, who was joined by about 30 Thai and Burmese businessmen, also urged Thais to invest more in Moulmein’s tourism industry. Nok, a budget carrier, is the first foreign airline to fly to Moulmein, which is the fourth largest city in Burma.
