Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will travel to India next month in her first trip to the country in 40 years. A foreign diplomat serving in Burma said on Thursday that Suu Kyi will deliver the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Lecture in New Delhi on Nov. 14. The diplomat said Suu Kyi would travel to India on Nov. 12. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh invited the Burmese leader to deliver the lecture when he met with her in Rangoon in May. Suu Kyi studied in New Delhi after her mother, Khin Kyi, was appointed ambassador to India in 1960.—AP
