Suu Kyi Still ‘Fond’ of Burma Army

NLD leader Aung San Suu Kyi told BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs on Sunday that she is still “fond” of Burma’s army despite the “terrible” things it has done in the past decades when it ruled the country. “People don’t like me for saying that. There are many who have criticized me for being what they call a poster girl for the army […] but I think the truth is I am very fond of the army, because I always thought of it as my father’s army,” Suu Kyi said. Her father Aung San was Burma’s leading independence hero in the fight against Britain and the founder of the Burmese army.

  1. I do respect our Independence hero Gen.Aung San.
But I dont agree with D.A.S.Su Kyi. Can we forget the brutal killings of Students, monks, and innocent citizens by the so called Myanmar Army. Can we forget those days when prisoners were taken to front line as porters. Women were raped by the same Myanmar Army.
The modern days army was lead by the dictator Ne Win. D.A.S.S.Kyi is becoming little selfish.
She should stay away by these kind of statements orelse she is going to lose her credit.

  2. Your father intention of building Burmese army is to protect Burma and it’s citizens, but not to slaughter. Do you even understand the role of legal army in the country?
