Paris-based media rights watchdog Reporters Sans Frontieres (RSF) has repeated its call for an investigation into the murder of Japanese photographer Kenji Nagai as it marked the sixth anniversary of his death at the height of the Burmese military’s crackdown on the 2007 Saffron Revolution. “We call now for an investigation into Kenji Nagai’s murder as a first step towards recognition of the many crimes against journalists” in Burma, the group said in a statement posted on its website on Friday. Nagai was shot at point-blank range by a Burmese soldier on Sept. 27, 2007, as troops charged on a crowd of protesters. His death was captured on video by other witnesses, provoking international condemnation.
