The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) called on Saturday for the United States to protect Muslims in Burma’s Arakan State from “genocide,” according to a report by AFP. At a gathering in the East African nation of Djibouti, the 57-member OIC urged US President Barack Obama to raise the issue during his visit to Burma on Monday. “We expect the United States to convey a strong message to the government of Burma so they protect that minority. What is going on there is a genocide,” said Djibouti’s Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, who is also the acting chairman of the OIC.
