The UN’s special envoy for Burma, Vijay Nambiar, said that Muslim homes were targeted with “brutal efficiency” in recently deadly attacks in the country. According to a report by AFP, Nambiar also said that “incendiary propaganda” had been used to stir up unrest between Buddhist and Muslim communities in the central Burmese city of Meiktila and other areas where the violence had broken out. Nambiar made the comments following a trip to Burma, where he visited camps in Meiktila that were being used to shelter nearly 9,000 people displaced by riots that killed at least 40 people.
