The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Thursday that it is conducting a four-day training seminar that will teach the Burma Police Force about “international policing standards and the exercise of police powers.” In the first such event by the ICRC in Burma, 23 senior officers, including department directors and regional, state and battalion commanders will receive training. “This landmark seminar demonstrates our willingness to expand our work in Myanmar,” said Jurg Montani, the ICRC’s head of delegation in the country. “We look forward to developing a professional dialogue with senior commanders this week.”
