Police in Indonesia have arrested three navy personnel for allegedly helping 106 migrants from Burma pass through Indonesian territory to get to Australia, reports the Jakarta Post. The arrests were made on Sunday as the migrants were being transported by bus and minibus to the southern coast of Garut regency in West Java, where they would be able to board a boat that would take them straight to Australia. “The three personnel have been charged for allegedly aiding people smuggling,” said chief of local military command Lt-Col Suparno. The migrants, who claimed to be displaced Rohingya people from Burma, were detained for questioning.
