Burma’s government has launched a probe into alleged malpractice by the recently resigned telecoms minister and other top civil servants, according to a report by Reuters. “About 50 senior officials from the Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology, including former minister Thein Tun, are facing inquiries in connection with malpractice in the nationwide telecommunications network,” the report quoted an unnamed senior government official as saying. Earlier this week, RFA reported that the former minister had been placed under house arrest after suddenly stepping down earlier this month.
