Fighting on Tuesday between Burmese government troops and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army, an ethnic Palaung militia allied to the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), resulted in the death of at least four Burmese soldiers, according a statement by the Palaung Women’s Organization. The fighting took place in Ohnam, a village in Namhsan Township, northern Shan State, and lasted about an hour, the statement said. The Burmese troops belonged to Light Infantry Unit 502, under the Northeastern Regional Command in Shan State.
