Thailand’s government revealed on Tuesday that Burma is seeking a more than 25 percent reduction in the size of a planned industrial estate in the southern Burmese port city of Dawei. According to a report by The Bangkok Post, Thai Transport Minister Chadchat Sittipunt said that Burma expressed its desire to scale down the project during a meeting between President Thein Sein and Thai PM Yingluck Shinawatra in Dawei on Monday. As Burma’s main partner in the multi-billion dollar project, Thailand said it will consider the proposal, which it fears could affect the feasibility of related projects.
