Burma to Assess Road Network With $1.3M Grant

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said Monday a US$1.3 million grant would help Burma’s government to assess what needs to be done to repair its ailing road network. The ADB said in a statement the grant provided by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction will help the government take stock of the condition of transport infrastructure and prioritize road maintenance. “Improving road links between rural areas, markets, and urban centers can open up opportunities that will have an immediate impact on people’s lives,” Putu Kamayana, head of the ADB’s extended mission in Burma said in the statement.
