Burma held its first high-level consultation with Australia about a three-year economic cooperation program, a state-run newspaper reported Tuesday. Officials from Burma’s Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) met in Naypyidaw on Monday to discuss partnerships and aid for Burma’s health care, education, career development, public finance management and census taking, the New Light of Myanmar reported. Australia gave about US$91 million in aid to Burma’s education reform this month and has also provided assistance for the peace process.
